Lost Sheep

by Avram Yehoshua

Ruti and I had a divine time witnessing to an Israeli couple on Feb. 18th, 2003. He's from the Netherlands and she's from Belgium. They were very interested in Yeshua. His name is Hanz and her name is Devorah. He grew up thinking that he was a Gentile and then found out when he was 20, that he was Jewish. His Jewish parents gave him to a Gentile couple during the Nazi onslaught. He's 55 years old and Devorah is 40. She comes from a French-Jewish background. We'll give them some New Testaments in their language (having picked them up on Feb. 20th, just for them).

We also spoke to a Jewish man by the name of Yehuda (Judah), on Feb. 19th, about Yeshua being the Messiah. He works in the mall. We gave him a pamphlet on Isaiah 53 in Hebrew as he too was open to finding out more. I told him that when we saw him next, we'd ask him what he thought of the pamphlet. It's about 40 pages long.

Before Yehuda we ministered to an Israeli woman about Yeshua. Her name is Efrat and she grew up religious and keeps some of the religious Jewish ways. She never heard anything about Yeshua before we told her. Anything in terms of Jews believing in Him that is. She was very surprised that we did. We gave her a Bible in Hebrew and pointed out Scriptures in the Tanach about the Messiah of Israel. Hopefully, we'll see her again next week and pick up where we left off.

All these people need prayer for belief in Messiah Yeshua. And we could use some prayer to seek out more of His lost sheep. Thanks.

On Monday night, 10 March 2003, Ruti and I took Hanz and Devorah out to eat. It would be our last time together as they are moving to Ashdod, Israel on Thursday, 13 March. It's about a four hour drive from here. They have a 15 year old daughter named Sharon.

They had not heard of anything like us; Jews that believed in Yeshua. Ruti and I were both able to give our testimony, and Ruti and I prayed for Devorah at the dinner table. She had been under a lot of stress with the move and Hanz was in an auto accident just the week before where the car was wrecked but Hanz came out of it alright. It impacted him concerning the frailty of his life.

When Ruti prayed for Devorah she began to weep. After that she said she felt relieved from much of the stress. Thank You, Yeshua. About half-way through our two and a half hour visit, I brought out a Dutch New Testament for each of them. Devorah said that she was just about to ask for something that they could take along and read. The timing of the Lord is perfect. We explained that it was written by Jews who either walked with Yeshua personally and saw Him risen, or Paul, who saw Him after the resurrection in visions, or by Luke who traveled with Paul and most likely was a Gentile believer. I told them to begin at Matthew and ask the God of Israel to reveal Himself to them. That they should,

'seek Him to find out if Yeshua is the Messiah because if He is, then all that the Prophets wrote about Him is true. Only He can give us New Life now and in eternity, and forgiveness of sin and a new heart like His.'

They were both very interested and this pleased Ruti and me. Hanz has been into Freemasonry and mediums. He didn't realize it was against God's Word (Lev. 20:27; Deut. 18:11, etc.), till I brought it up. I explained to him that the reason why they seem so 'accurate' is because they are familiar spirits.

Devorah too has had times where she thinks that 'her father' may be the one who is 'looking out' for her. He died when she was only nine years old and at forty, she is still hurt by the loss. As you can see, both of them have been open to demonic influence. They don't know the Bible. Please lift them up in your prayers. Two Jews that need their Messiah.

We spoke again to Devorah on Monday night, 17 March 2003. Her move to Ashdod on Thursday went well and she and Hanz were settling in. She had to call us. There is a connection here for her, to us, in terms of our walk and trust in God. She needs that. She is not secure. She worries a lot. She told me that she and Hanz had read up to Luke 2 and said, 'It's like a story. I like that.' She told Ruti that, 'As I read it, I feel so peaceful. It makes me really feel good.' Thank You, Yeshua!

She also said she felt less nervous and she thanked us for that. When we gave her the Dutch New Testaments that night in the restaurant, one for her and one for Hanz, she told us last night that she thought, 'One would have been enough.' But now they read it together, each one having their own and she was so grateful for that. She also said something else that was very powerful. Devorah related how having read about Yeshua and all that He did, she said the 'reality about the Land of Israel is that it is really a holy land we live in.' Ah-main! Please keep Devorah and Hanz in your prayers.
