CP 2020

CP 2020

CP 2020 is the name of our project for Charles Augustino and his 17 Kenyan orphans who sleep in his house because he doesn’t have another building to house them in. Charles is 61 years old and a pastor of a small village. He and his wife Mary have been taking in orphans for about ten years. The need for a home for the children became even more imperative recently because of Covid 19. The Kenyan authorities told Charles that he could not keep all the children in his home any longer because of the Virus.

In our second New Moon email entitled Shark Bait!, which I sent out on April 20th, I spoke of CP 2020.

I first presented CP 2020 (the ‘Charles Project 2020’) in that second New Moon email to the 280 people on our email list, saying that we needed $1,500 to begin to lay the foundation for the home. I think it was the next day that a man whom I’ll call Godsend, contacted me. He had read CP 2020 and said that the Lord was leading him to match, dollar for dollar, whatever came into CP 2020 for the foundation. What that meant was that if someone gave $100 to CP 2020 he would give another $100.

During prayer on April 27th I asked the Lord Yeshua for funds, lots of funds for our Kenyan children, and then the thought came to me: ‘You give them some.’ I said, ‘Lord, I don’t have any money to give them.’ Then I remembered a hundred dollars that I had recently stashed away to help Ruti and me if I literally didn’t have any money and I needed some funds to pay a bill or buy some food. I said, ‘I will give that, Lord! I will give it as a Seed into the CP 2020 program.’ It was the first funds to come in. I had been outside sitting in the sun and praying, and I came in and told Ruti what I believed the Lord wanted us to do, asking her what she thought. She said it would be great. And so Ruti and I were delighted to be the first to give funds to CP 2020, and the Seed would grow quickly!

Later that day I sent out a special email entitled CP 2020 and wrote of Godsend matching whatever funds came in for the foundation to be laid. The response was overwhelming.

In the first four months of 2020 we had only been able to send $2,860 to our 97 Kenyan orphans and their six pastor/caretakers for food, clothing and Passover, of which Charles is one of them. On Monday night, April 27, 2020 I sent out the CP 2020 email. Nine days later, on Wednesday morning May 6, 2020 I wired $7,409.34 to The Seed of Abraham’s Elder/Pastor in Kenya, Samuel Maseru, who is overseeing CP 2020.

Of that $7,409.34 all of it goes to laying the foundation and erecting the building for Charles except for $139.99, which was given for food for the six pastors and their orphans, which means that CP 2020 got $7,269.35 minus what the Kenyan bank took out for itself on receiving the wire transfer, which is an astounding $201.55. This deduction by the Kenyan bank is ‘legal thievery.’ One time we sent $660 and the bank took out $45.85 and so our Kenyan orphans only got $614.15. When we sent $1,130 the bank took out $84.58 and our orphans got only $1,045.42. On the other hand, banks in the USA take out a standard fee of just $10 for a money wire transfer into their bank.

Be that as it may in the world of Darkness, we are very grateful for the funds that have been received for CP 2020, and we need more for other necessities. Charles will need bunkbeds, mattresses and sheets for the children, as well as pillows, pillow cases, pajamas and dressers for the orphanage, and a building with a kitchen and  showers for the children, along with a place to assemble for the children and his congregation. Now his congregation assembles under the trees, which is fine when it’s sunny, but it rains a lot in Kenya where Charles lives. The assembly place we’re looking to build is nothing more than a roof held up by some pillars. It’s not a building, but a place where his congregation can meet without getting rained on or baked in the sun. It’ll also be a place where the children can learn and study.

Now is the Lord’s time to help our Kenyan children. The world is shut down because of Covid 19, but the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel is on the move, revealing that He can do things when the world is on the brink of financial ruin. Our God is like that! When Man says it can’t or shouldn’t be done, Yeshua delights in doing it!

The need is great, and the “more than” matching funds, as you’ll see, are before us. Let’s pray about what we can do to see that these orphans of Charles have an orphanage ‘in the backyard’ of Charles’ home; a bed to sleep in, food to eat and love from Yeshua as Charles and Mary and their helpers continue to show them Who Yeshua is and teach them about the Lord of Life and His Ways of living.

Charles miraculously came to the Lord late in life. And soon after that he heard the Lord’s voice wanting him to take in orphans. The Kenyan government does not give him any money nor help them in any way, and so in July 2012 we began helping Charles with funds for food and clothing. Now we’d like to help him with a home for all the children Yeshua has given him to raise.

The Breakdown

Of the $7,409.34 that came in from April 27th to May 6th, of which I wired the money to Kenya, $4,809.35 came in from 15 people on the mailing list, including myself. Godsend gave $2,500, which is not matching the $4,809.35 dollar for dollar, but he is playing ‘catch up.’ Later that day, on May 6th, he send in $500 more toward the catch up for a total of $3,000. As he gets the funds from the Lord through his job he will continue to send them to us, and not only dollar for dollar, but he related that after the $1,500 was received for CP 2020 that the Lord wanted him to up the ratio. Anything after the initial $1,500 was received would be a $1.00 to $1.25 ratio, and so a thousand dollar gift for CP 2020 will now become $1,250 and the total will be $2,250, etc.

Godsend is not rich in the things of this world. He works for a living. If he were rich we wouldn’t need this ‘dollar for dollar challenge’ because Godsend would give us all the funds we need to build this home for the orphans and other projects we will do after this. He is being led by the Lord Yeshua to do this, and so he is stepping out in faith in Yeshua and he is being obedient to our Lord. He still has some funds to give ‘to catch up’ to the ratio, and as the Lord Yeshua provides for him he will send us the difference. As I review this today, Thursday, May 14, 2020, Godsend has given a total of $3,500 so far. Yeshua will be glorified through CP 2020 in more than one way!

The Feeding of the Children

We are looking for more funds to come in for both CP 2020 (which now stands at a need of about $20,000) and the Kenyan Fund, which helps to feed and clothe our 97 orphans being taken care of by the six pastor/caretakers living in six different Kenyan villages around the city of Kisii. From 2012 to 2019, we gave them more than $57,000 for food and clothing, and this year, not including the $7,000 plus we just sent for CP 2020, we have given them $2,860.

Thank you for your prayers for Charles and Mary, and our five other pastor/caretakers. The Kenyan city of Kisii is about 180 miles (290 km) west of Nairobi, high in the mountains at about 7,000 feet (2,100 meters), and it’s right on the equator, so it’s how and humid much of the time. The six men are raising 97 orphans plus their own children (21 children 18 and under). That’s an average of 19.7 children each. Can you imagine feeding, loving and caring for that many children?

Let’s help them to do love these children. Let’s show them that they are not alone in this world and that there are people who value them and what they are doing for our Lord Yeshua. Yeshua said in the Great News of Matthew:

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the Throne of His Glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, “Come, you blessed of My Father! Inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world! For I was hungry and you gave Me food. I was thirsty and you gave Me drink. I was a stranger and you took Me in. I was naked and you clothed Me. I was sick and you visited Me. I was in prison and you came to Me.’”

“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them,”

“Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.”

“Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the Everlasting Fire prepared for the Devil and his angels! For I was hungry and you gave Me no food. I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink. I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’ “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying,”

“Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’

And these will go away into Everlasting Punishment, but the righteous into Eternal Life.”” (Matthew 25:31-46)

Whatever you give, Godspeed with match it, and so $200 will have $250 added to it to become $450. Would you consider giving something now for Yeshua and His children in Kenya?

Note somewhere on the check or money order, Zelle or PayPal that the funds are for CP 2020 and/or for the Kenyan Fund, which feeds the 97 children, their caretakers and their children. Thank you.

We now have $179 in the CP 2020 Fund, and another $1,000 from Godsend. The totals that we have received to date are $4,979.35 and $3,500 respectively, for a grand total of $8,459.35. The building project has begun! Glory to Messiah Yeshua! Here are some pictures:

The foundation is being laid.

Friday, May 22, 2020

Much prayer was lifted up to Papa God, in the Name of Yeshua His Son, that it wouldn’t rain on Friday, May 22, 2020 because the foundation for the orphanage needed to be laid and it would take time for the concrete to set up. Rain was prophesied by the weather prognosticators for today, but our Lord stepped in and it was fair weather as you can see. This is a rainy season in Kisii, Kenya and so it’s no small miracle that it did not rain. It’s been raining and it will continue to rain, but our God stayed the rain for this important first step! Thank You, Lord! And a “Thank you” to all who prayed!

Friday, May 22, 2020

The foundation set up. Charles, the Fundi (builder) and the young people have done a great job! (It seems to have sprinkled after the foundation had set, but it didn’t affect the foundation!)

Wednesday, May 27, 2020
The work is going well. Note how the cement in-between the bricks is still fresh, ‘wet looking.’ The walls are given time to gain firmness and cure so it can sustain the additional weight of placing more bricks upon it for higher walls.

The orphanage walls progress!

Thursday, June 4, 2020
The walls for the orphanage are arising.

Tuesday, June 9, 2020
The walls are finished and now they are preparing for the roof.

On June 9, 2020, we sent out additional funds of $2,800.44 for CP 2020 so the roof could be completed, as well as the doors and windows. (We were also able to send along with that $893.90 for all our 100 orphans and their pastor/caretakers for food.) Come join us, if you already haven’t, in helping to build this orphanage and supply it with bunk beds and blankets, dressers and screens for the doors and windows, and food for the children. Thank you!

June 15, 2020
The structure for the roof is taking shape.
Friday, June 19, 2020
The metal ribs for the roof have been set in place and the orphanage is taking shape.

Thursday, July 2, 2020
The roof for the orphanage is on and the window bars are in.
Friday, July 3, 2020
A front view of the orphanage. Metal posts will replace the wooden posts that are holding up the roof’s extension, so the children don’t get rained on when they enter into, and leave through, the orphanage doors. It rains a lot in the Kisii area.

Friday, July 17, 2020
The doors and most of the glass for the windows are in on this side of the building, and the outside has been covered with panels. Praise Yeshua!
Monday, July 27, 2020
Some of the orphans pose in front of the orphanage with Charles Oigara, pastor and caretaker of the children (left), Samuel Maseru (The Seed of Abraham’s elder and minister in Kenya) and Charles’ wife Mary (third from right). Please remember them in prayer.

Tuesday, July 28, 2020
The front sidewalk has been finished and painted. Now the building needs to be painted inside and out, and the bunk beds, etc., need to be bought for the children.
Friday, August 28, 2020
A view of the now painted outside of the orphanage, complete with bars on the windows so thieves don’t break in. I like the black trim.

Friday, August 28, 2020
A side view of the painted orphanage. It’s coming along, thanks to our Lord Yeshua and all those who have been led to contribute to CP 2020.
Sept 8, 2020
Some mattresses and metal frame bunk beds loaded on an Isuzu truck where the items were bought. The bunk beds are all set up now.

Sept 13, 2020
The plaque that will go on the building/orphanage when it is dedicated to our Lord Yeshua on Friday, Sept. 18th, 2020, just a few hours before The Feasts of Trumpets begins in the evening, which is also known as, the Day of tremendous shouting and praise for what our Lord has done for us!  This is certainly cause for giving thanks and praising Yeshua! The orphanage will house the 17 orphans of Charles and Mary, and their adult male and female supervisors.
Friday, Sept. 18, 2020 just hours before Yom Truah (The Day of Tremendous Shouting for what God has done for us). The 17 orphans of Charles and Mary, as well as the orphanage, were dedicated to Messiah Yeshua.
Here is Samuel Maseru, The Seed of Abraham’s Elder (and pastor) in Kenya, anointing and dedicating one of the orphans to Yeshua.  All the orphans would be anointed and dedicated to Yeshua. Thank you for praying for them.
Friday, Sept. 18, 2020
A group picture of the orphans and their caretakers, etc., with the orphanage and the dedication plaque (between the two green balloons) in the background. It can’t be read from this distance, but you’ll see it below in another picture by itself before it was placed on the orphanage.
Friday, Sept. 18, 2020
Charles, pastor and “father” to the 17 orphans, speaking to the group that came together to help celebrate this truly joyous occasion. Let’s support him with prayer, for his (and Mary’s) responsibility to raise and nurture the children is enormous.
Friday, Sept. 18, 2020
Charles and his wife Mary, sitting down in front of the orphanage, with most of our pastors and their wives surrounding them. Samuel Maseru, pastor, and his wife, Hellen, are on the left. Each of the (other) pastors have orphans that need a home to live in. Most live in the home of the pastor, his wife, and their children. With Yeshua’s guidance and help we would like to build orphanages for all of them.
Friday, Sept. 18, 2020
Mary (Charles’ wife), leading a number of women and children into the orphanage.

Friday, Sept. 18, 2020
Samuel Maseru’s wife, Hellen, is checking out a new mattress on a new bunk bed for the children. All the children have their own bunk bed. Thank You, Yeshua! On the night of Yom Truah all the children slept in their own bed for the first time. How wonderful that must have been for them! We still need to get blankets, pillows, and lockers for them (to put their clothes and books, etc., in).
Friday, Sept. 18, 2020
Hellen and some of the girls enjoying the bunkbeds.

Friday, Sept. 18, 2020
A precious orphan of Charles and Mary. The girls have one room, and the boys have another room, separated by a wall.
Friday, Sept. 18, 2020
Hellen, Samuel, and Mary rejoicing in what has been done for the orphans through the love, prayers and financial giving of only a few people whom Yeshua raised up for this orphanage. BLESS them Lord, for their heart to sacrificially give to those in much need.

Friday, Sept. 18, 2020
Samuel conveying Avram and Ruti’s love for the orphans and Charles, etc., and their gratitude to Yeshua for making this orphanage possible. Truly, to Yeshua be the Glory!

“God administers justice for the orphan and the widow, and loves the stranger, giving him food and clothing.” (Deuteronomy 10:18)
